When asked what would be a good idea for honeymoon, Astra (now my husband) threw out lots of thoughts like he’d love to go caving, he wanted to go visit the wonders of the world, and he’d like to go to some anti- mainstream honeymoon destination. Yup, he’s being hipster. But I couldn’t agree more! 😀 Of course I treated his answers as challenges, and well, challenge accepted!.
So I spent days browsing for places that fits the “clue” and also fits our budget. That’s when I decided I have to spend 2 day 1 night on a Ha Long Bay Cruise in Vietnam. I’ve been to Vietnam before, but not to Hanoi nor Ha Long. Also, I’ve never go cruising. So it was exciting planning the trip.
Why Signature Cruise
If you know me then you know I’ve done lots of research on which cruise I have to book. There are lots of cruises exploring Ha Long Bay, and I’ve compared them all from price to facilities to itineraries. When I finally came down to 2 choices, I emailed both of the companies, and this Signature Cruise has the best offer and the friendliest reply. They also have the easiest payment gateway.
How to Book Signature Cruise
Simply book via their website or via Booking.com. Payment I made was by Credit Card (deposit only). I suggest you to contact them directly since they might have a better deal than other booking platform. You can also ask for a pick up at your hotel in Hanoi.
I divided my 2 days 1 night experience into 2 posts. Day 1 here and Day 2 here.
First thing in the early morning, our transfer vehicle picked us up from our hotel in Hanoi and convey us to Halong City. The transfer vehicle was a mini van and was big enough to bring our luggages along with us. Once arrived in the seaside, we were waiting for about 15 minutes in the waiting room. Here we need to pay for the full trip.
We were then guided to the excursion boat from the wharf and made our way out onto the bay to board the luxurious craft, Signature Cruise. Inside the cruise, we were greeted with a complimentary drink while seating in a white painted luxurious dining room. The crew conducted a compulsory safety procedures session and then they gave us the key to our room. We were lucky to have the best room which has the largest balcony! (Note: always tell the hotel that you’re on your honeymoon, they will provide you with the best room!).
Our gorgeous room features a large bathtub!
A special lunch of fresh seafood and an assortment of appetizing favorites were next on our itineraries. It was a once in a lifetime experience, dining with the best view! Ha Long Bay really is one of New Seven Natural Wonders of the world.
After lunch we set sail for Bai Tu Long Bay passing some towns and islets. We then stopped to explore Vung Vieng fishing village by a local rowing boats to discover the interesting daily lives of the village people. We also passed by a Pearl Farm.
Once back to the wharf, we had a quick shower and headed to the dining room for a Vietnamese cooking class.
I personally volunteered to tried making a shrimp roll. I made myself some shrimp rolls and took them up to the sun deck as a snack while witnessing an unforgettable sunset over the bay.
That’s a wrap for our first day cruising the beautiful Ha Long Bay with Signature Cruise. Find out our second day activities here.
