Where to go: 1-day in Singapore

I figured out I love planning, and I love making itinerary both for myself and for my friends. So I’m gonna start publishing them for you, just in case you’re wondering what to do and where to go and how much would you spend on your upcoming holiday! 😀

If you’re going to Singapore in just 1 day, not even stay for a night, you can follow my itinerary below:

Arrive early in the morning
Yes, choose an early flight. Plan to arrive at Changi Airport before 12 noon.

Flight ticket from Jakarta can be as low as IDR 199.000
Airport tax IDR 150.000

Have a brunch like a Singaporean
Once arrived, you can have a brunch at a kopitiam in Changi. There are plenty of choices in every terminal. Have a Kaya Butter Toast and a cup of Hot Teh Tarik or Milo. You can add 2 Half-boiled Egg or a Nasi Lemak.

If you prefer to have a brunch outside Changi, go to MRT Station, buy an Ezlink card and head to Harbourfront Station. Alight at Harbourfront, and find your way to Vivo City. Here, you have variety of choices on where to eat. My personal choice would be at Malaysian Food Street (food court) at Sentosa Island. You just need to go to the 3rd floor of Vivo City mall, take a monorail to Sentosa Island, alight at the Universal Studios Station. The food court is just beside the Universal Studios globe.

Ezlink card costs S$ 12 (S$ 7 value, S$ 5 deposit)
Brunch at a kopitiam costs S$ 10 – 15
Note that Malaysian Food Street is closed on Wednesdays

Have fun at Asia’s Favorite Playground, Sentosa Island
If you’re planning to visit Universal Studios Singapore (USS), go ahead and play! Note that they are closing the roller coaster, so if you are a fan of extreme ride, you’ll have a chance of a disappointment here. Must ride attraction would be The Mummy and Transformers. Don’t forget to take picture with your favorite characters too! 😀

Not keen on going to USS? No problem, have yourself a day of fun in the island by riding Luge and board the Skyride. Take a walk on the famous Siloso Beach, hop on and off the beach tram for free!

USS ticket costs S$ 77
Luge and Skyride package costs S$ 12

Have a drink at Clarke Quay
Try to be back to Vivo by 4pm. Head to Harbourfront MRT  Station and alight at Clarke Quay. Best time to visit Clarke Quay is at night, but afternoon is fine too. This is one of the hippest place in Singapore. You can have a drink here before going to the next stop.

A drink costs around S$ 3 – 10

Take a river boat taxi to the Merlion
Yes, they have river taxi here in Singapore. It will go along the Singapore River from Clarke Quay to the Merlion, with a view of Esplanade, Singapore Flyer, Marina Bay Sands, The Fullerton, and of course the Merlion. Alight there, and take a picture of yourself with the Singapore icon.

River boat taxi costs S$ 8

Shopping at (of course) Orchard Road
At around 6pm, take a bus to Orchard Road. Why not MRT? Because you don’t want to miss Singapore skyline and all the lights. Have a shopping spree at ION Orchard, Takashimaya, Mandarin Oriental, or 313 Somerset. My favorite stores would be Cotton On, Typo, Forever 21, and all the stores at 313 Somerset.

If you have plenty of time left, head to Bugis
Take MRT down to Bugis. Mind the busy traffic, you’ll meet lots of people during this time of the day. Alight at Bugis station, take a walk to Bugis Street. This is one of the place to find cheap souvenirs. Souvenirs are ranging from sunglasses, flip flop, bags, t-shirts.

Chop chop. Head back to Changi Airport!
There goes your 1 day Singapore trip. Don’t forget to be at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight schedule. Budget airlines only have a little time to open a check-in counter, so you must not be late.

If you have any question, pleaseeeee… ask me! 😀
