[Report] Launching of WakuWaku Japan Cafe, Gandaria City – Jakarta

Gandaria City turned into Japan last week! Cherry blossoms were blooming because WakuWaku Japan just opened their first Jakarta pop-up cafe! From JKT48 to Ultraman, all things Japanese were there :D

How to go to WakuWaku Japan Cafe
WakuWaku Japan Cafe is located on the Upper Ground level of Gandaria City, at Kaffein. It is a pop-up cafe that will only open temporary from November 28th to January 28th. This date is important cause you don’t want to miss it, really.

What to order in WakuWaku Japan Cafe
I was so lucky I got invited to the launching of this uber cool Japanese cafe last November. I went there with Ravi and was surprised by how they managed to ‘change’ Kaffein to a thematic cozy cafe with all the Japanese ornaments. Me likey!

Like the usual cafe launch, there must be foods, free yummy foods. This time, we had choices of Japanese Ochazuke; Tai-Chazuke, Sake-Chazuke (salmon), and Tempura-Chazuke. I, of course, a fan of Sake-Chazuke. It costs a little expensive, IDR 120.000, but was worth it. Salmon was all over the bowl, rice was yummy, it was a party in my mouth. I even finished 2 bowls of this savory dish.

Other than Japanese Ochazuke, there’s also Chirashi Sushi which has super vibrant color.

They also have desserts. Too bad we didn’t get the chance to taste it because it wasn’t ready during the launching event. But hey, no worries, cause they’ve prepared us some cool games and technology at the Piazza. It felt like a day in Japan, really. I got to wear a Yukata and take pictures using samurai under the cherry blossoms tree, I got to meet Ultraman and have our picture taken (yay!), and I also got to play Japanese traditional games there. There was also a booth that allowed us to register our name and face through a device provided, and redeem a free food & beverage after that. How cool!

Overall I love WakuWaku Japan Cafe. I will definitely going back to there for the Sake-Chazuke and the ambience! You should too! More info here: WAKUWAKU JAPAN CAFE
