As a continuation of my wedding theme (which was about Star Wars, sky, stars, and everything in between), I figured I have to stay at this uber cool Space room for my honeymoon. Yup, it’s actually a hotel room! What’s a ‘honeymoon’ if we don’t have rocket in our room to fly to the moon, right? 😀
How to go to Wanderlust
Wanderlust is located at 2 Dickson Road, in a cultural neighborhood Little India. Nearest MRT stations are Little India and Bugis (yes, walking distance to Bugis Street, Bugis Junction, etc). I went to the hotel by taxi and the driver quickly know where the place is. So you don’t need to worry, it’s pretty easy to find the location.
Quoting from their website, “Wanderlust is a left-field and totally experimental boutique hotel set to draw madcap voyagers and curious travellers to its doorstep”.
Wanderlust has various room categories such as Pantone, Pantone Deluxe, Mono, Mono Deluxe, and Whimsical. Each category has different characteristic and theme which will make your stay absolutely unforgettable. I guarantee.
If you’re a designer or familiar with the creative industry, then the Pantone rooms will suits you best. They have 10 rooms that are playfully painted in different hues.
Pantone Deluxe rooms also rendered in a single hue, yellow, but this room feature a vintage iron cast bathtub. I gotta be honest, I’m in love with this room the first time I saw these pictures.
Different than the Pantone rooms, Mono rooms are inspired by paper, each room features a mixture of origami and pop art. While Mono Deluxe is the only pop art room with a glass-encased bathtub.
Most favorite room category is definitely the Whimsical rooms. Featuring 9 loft rooms with 5 varying themes such as Bling, ASCII, Tree, Typewriter, and Space.
The Space Room
It was dark and cold when I first entered the room. ‘They really made it dark and cold’, I thought, ‘what a thoughtful room design’. There’s a huge grey-ish body of a rocket stuck on the wall with some little stars blinking around it… wait, little stars were everywhere in the room and on the ceiling too! I got super excited!
The room was just like what I imagined it would be, only cooler! A rocking chair, an iron cast bathtub, complimentary WiFi, mini bar, topped with a fluffy huge bed on the second floor. If that’s not enough, they even provide us with “handy”, a multi-function smartphone customised for guests that can be used anywhere in Singapore. Beat that! 😀
I always wanted to stay at this hotel since the first time I read a review about it on a magazine. Didn’t really get a chance to stay here until *yeay* I recently got married and had to plan the perfect honeymoon (of course Wanderlust was the first hotel I thought in mind). I had a truly great experience staying at Wanderlust. Without a doubt, Wanderlust is gonna be #1 on my list of unique hotel in Singapore.
