WakuWaku Japan Pop-up Cafe – Food Tasting

Beberapa bulan lalu, waktu antri bikin visa buat ke Jepang, I saw a huge banner about this WakuWaku Japan. :D

Sebagai pecinta Jepang (as in the city, food, and their culture), seneng banget rasanya pas diajak BBlog Indonesia buat ikutan food tasting-nya WakuWaku Japan Cafe! Food tasting is always as fun as a focus group discussion. I really like the feeling when I give an honest opinion to something that passionate people have made, in this case it’s about food. Surprise-nya lagi, food tasting kali ini barengan sama member-member JKT48. Uwaww.. (Too bad I was too scared to take their pictures, takut nggak dibolehin).

Bukan, yang ini bukan member JKT48. Hehe. I went to the food tasting event with these guys, Bena & Vendry. Juga ditemenin sama Ravi, dan Aulion. Seru deh, icip-icip kue yang rasanya……. Jepang banget! The first one we tasted was Shiki-oriori, which has different flavors from chocolate, brown sugar, sesame, and matcha. I remember I like the matcha one, and got to finish a glass of water when I tasted the brown colored cookies which actually was hot and spicy! Haha!

Selain cookies, WakuWaku Japan Cafe juga menyuguhkan muffin rasa red bean dan matcha. I dont really like red bean, so I still prefer matcha. Kemudian ada pastry yang bertabur wijen / sesame. Nah yang ini lumayan familiar di lidah orang Indonesia, I actually like all of them :). Terakhir, ada Senbei, yaitu Japanese rice cracker. Sebagai fan-nya rice cracker, I was excited with this one. Tapi ternyata rasanya mostly savory alias asin, so I didn’t really keen on these rice crackers, I told them I personally prefer a sweet one.

Overall the cookies and pastries are good and so much give the feeling of Japan, apalagi kalo lihat bungkus / packagingnya yang nonjolin 4 seasons di Jepang. Suka! These cookies will make good gift!

That’s all. After we tell them how we feel about the food, we were told that the WakuWaku Japan Cafe will be temporarily open here in Jakarta, tepatnya di Gandaria City @Kaffein. And we were invited to the event. Yay! Will tell you more about the cafe on my next post.
